15 finalists competed for $1.2 million in awards to help them grow their businesses at the third annual Quicken Loans Detroit Demo Day contest Friday night.

Motor City-based businesses won a share of $1.2 million in funding from Quicken Loans on Friday.

Detroit pastry chef April Anderson of Good Cakes and Bakes will be featured on NBC’s "Today" show Thursday as part of a Mother’s Day segment. The recipe she's showcasing was handed down from her grandmother.
