In an effort to solve for "application fatigue" that many entrepreneurs experienced as a result of COVID relief and PPP grants, the 2021 application process will be different. This year, a pitch video must be submitted via our online platform PitchTape.
We aim to make this process as easy as possible through guided pitch creation, video recording tools, customizable teleprompter, and automated video stitching. Companies are also asked to provide a clear and comprehensive description of their business and their long-term growth plans.
Those interested in applying to Detroit Demo Day will choose one of four categories: Start, Pivot, Scale, or Youth. These categories are based on the company’s revenue, total capital raised, and plans for continued operations and growth.
The selection process to pitch at Detroit Demo Day consists of multiple rounds of online application vetting by community partners and Detroit-based business leaders, as well as a potential site visit (pending the most updated health and safety guidelines) from the Rocket Community Fund Entrepreneurship team. These reviewers will narrow down applicants to the top 15 semi-finalists.
A total of 15 businesses will receive funding from Rocket Mortgage Detroit Demo Day. Winners will be selected by a panel of diverse and accomplished national entrepreneurs and judged on the same criteria as their online applications.
Open to all eligible businesses. Apply online at DetroitDemoDay.com.
2021 Application period opens June 8th. The deadline for pitch video submission is Friday, June 18th, 11:59 pm EST.
